Sue Sweat, Publisher and Editor of the Canyon Lake Views, has an extensive background as an Executive Assistant in the corporate world, including The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce in the Economic Development Department. Combined with her BFA in Art, this experience laid the groundwork for promoting local businesses area-wide.
As a Wimberley resident for 20 years, Sue assisted with the first Welcome to Wimberley Guide for visitors and newcomers and provided ad design and sales for The Hill Country Sun. Additionally she has worked in sales and ad design along with the publisher of two community magazines with formats similar to The Canyon Lake Views: The Wimberley Valley News & Views for ten of its thirteen years and The Dripping Springs Outlook. She was instrumental in the startup of the Outlook and served as Editor since its inception in April 2004 until April 2009.
Committed to providing a complete source of information to the entire community surrounding Canyon Lake, Sue also published the first Canyon Lake Chamber-sponsored Visitor & Relocation Guide in May of 2009 with distribution of the second annual guide in March 2010.
Her first issue of The Canyon Lake Views was published in December 2006. The Canyon Lake Views was nominated as Business of The Year at the 2010 Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Sue’s son, Dalton Sweat, was an Alumni Scholar in the student chapter of the Alumni Association at Texas State University for four years and also Associated Student Government Senator during his junior year. Following graduation in Electronic Media Communications in May 2009, Dalton now assists Sue extensively with both The Canyon Lake Views and The Canyon Lake & The Guadalupe River Visitor and Relocation Guide in both sales and planning. Dalton is also a radio announcer for Marble Falls ISD sports.
